Tournament Structure

IMT 2026 is a free, virtual math contest for middle and high school students worldwide. Join us on Saturday, June 13th, 2026 from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM EDT fully online via Zoom.

Registration Deadline: June 12th, 11:59 PM EDT.

Team & Individual Round poudly hosted on the Solvefire Platform

Pre-Tournament Event

Integrated Round

  • June 8th - June 12th
  • Proofs & Data Analysis
  • Optional (But Prized!)

The first round of IMT is the Integrated Round, a spinoff of a traditional power round focusing on applied mathematics and modeling. Teams of up to 5 will have up to 5 days to collaborate and submit their unique solutions.

Problems will require you to analyze real-world data sets provided by institutions and provide detailed, proof-based reasoning. This optional test is hosted on Our Website Portal, and has a separate prize pool. More information is available after you Sign Up!

Team Round

40 Minutes 10 Questions Integer Answers

The second round of IMT is the Team Round. You can compete solo or in teams of up to 5 individuals. You will have 40 minutes to work together and collaborate to solve 10 competition math problems of increasing difficulty.

Individual Round

90 Minutes 2 Topics, 10 Qs Each Integer Answers

Each team member selects 2 out of 4 distinct subject areas: Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, or Combinatorics.

Competitors then take two 45-minute, 10-question subject tests of increasing difficulty based on their chosen subjects.

Live Events: Countdown & Integration Bee

Fast-Paced Live on Zoom Open to All

To cap off the tournament day, we host a thrilling, bracket-style Countdown Round (CDR) for our top individual scorers, as well as an exciting Integration Bee that is open to all attendees to participate in and spectate!

Scoring & Leaderboards

Because IMT allows for flexible participation, we have split the tournament into three distinct leaderboards, each with its own prize pool!

1. Aggregate Team Championship

For full teams, the overall Saturday score is a 50/50 split between collaborative and independent performance. All answers are integers.

  • Team Round 50%
  • Individual Avg. 50%

Ties are resolved via the live Countdown Round (CDR).

2. Individual Subject Winners

For competitors without a team (or those who shine independently). Scores are based purely on your two chosen 10-question subject tests.

  • Integer answers only
  • 0 points for blank (No guessing penalty)

Ties are resolved via the live Countdown Round (CDR).

3. Integrated Round Champions

Graded entirely on its own. This round features proof-based, textual questions focusing on applied modeling.

  • Open-response formats
  • Submit via scanned paper or compiled LaTeX

Integrated Round Evaluation

Because the Integrated Round is textual and proof-based, graders do not just look at a final answer. We award partial credit based on a rigorous three-part evaluation rubric.

1

Logical Rigor

Did the team establish a clear, mathematically sound path from the given data to the conclusion? Missing a vital stepping stone in a proof will result in deductions, even if the final conclusion is technically correct.

2

Computational Accuracy

While logic is paramount, arithmetic execution matters. Minor calculation errors that do not majorly effect the overall logic of the proof will only receive minor point deductions, meaning partial credit/progress is highly encouraged.

3

Clarity & Formatting

Proofs must be readable to be graded. Variables must be clearly defined, theorems must be cited properly (if applicable), and formatting must be legible (whether typed in LaTeX or cleanly handwritten and scanned).

Awards & Prizes

Thanks to our generous sponsors, we are excited to offer a robust prize pool for our top competitors.

Over $1,000+ in Total Prizes

We will be distributing over $1,000 worth of awards, certificates, and prizes to our top-scoring individuals, highest-scoring teams, and Integrated Round winners.

Sponsored by Jane Street, Art of Problem Solving, and AwesomeMath.
